Netflix has released all 10 episodes of the new reboot of LOST IN SPACE.

Currently up to episode 4, I’m very impressed.

Lost

I missed the cameo by Billy Mummy in episode 1 because I was more focused on seeing that Dr Smith is a female in this version.  I was actually distracted by my partner’s very vocal response to this realisation; he was also unimpressed that the new Dr Who is a female.  I don’t share his concerns but I do admit that the TV series of Van Helsing was destroyed because they chose to make the lead a female instead of a male.

LOST IN SPACE looks like it will be a great ride… just not as brilliant as the ultimate SciFi competition from this year, STAR TREK Discovery… still the best new SciFi series since Westworld.

STARGATE: Origins

After much fuss and confusing promotion, STARGATE: Origins has started to be shown.  What initially excited me because it sounded like a new series of Stargate, turned out to be a collection of around ten-minute-long mini-eps that are only available by subscribing to the site Stargate Command for $20 every three months.  Not AT ALL what I was hoping for.

There has been massive conflict on fan-related pages between those who only want to say positive things about it to kiss ass to the creators/network/studio and those of us who need to “tell it like it is” about what we have been served up. 

Comments have even been made by people who stand to gain something from this creation, including SG1 star Christopher Judge, that the fan response needs to be positive, and a negative response could harm the future prospects of a new full series of Stargate.

If they are seriously looking at a new series then they finance a “pilot”. Of course, this also may be a pilot that has been put online to deliberately get feedback from part of the expected audience. However, when that gets tied into how many subscribe to view it… and of course, the majority of Stargate viewers will have no idea that it even exists, so won’t respond… that gives it no hope of success in my view.

Then, looking at it as if I was the Studio or Network, I would be demanding the replacement of at least three in the cast who don’t fit their parts, and I would also demand it be rewritten to fit in with the “canon”. For it to be REAL Stargate it can’t just dump the past for the sake of their story idea… often people say “don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story”… that can’t be done in a franchise like this or the fans and past viewers… the target audience… will not accept it or watch it.

They all know that, so my question is… “Why would they do it this way?”.

The answer should be obvious… they are planning this to fail so they can use it to justify not paying for a full new series.  Reality is they would have to compete with the exceptional new relaunch of STAR TREK called DISCOVERY and this current “pilot” is greatly inferior.

But only time will tell…

All these things also need to be said for the future to turn out the way we all want, it would be more destructive to just say it is all fabulous when it really isn’t.

Just my opinion, but as valid as any other, surely?

What has been served up is very “half-baked” and ultimately will do damage to the Stargate franchise.

I believe it is impossible for humans to tell the absolute truth… it’s in our blood.

We are genetically incapable of telling the TRUTH without compromise or exaggeration.

That simple truth is also why we are so driven to seek out “truth”, yet so willing to allow the “little white lies” to be told and accepted.

Them:  “Place one hand on the Bible, raise your other hand.  Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”

Us:  “I do.”

… BULLSHIT!

The absolute truth is exceptionally powerful and dangerous.

Tell it, accept it, then move on…

Please, Mr Postman

This morning I stumbled across an email notifying that a package would be delivered for my partner today.  It included the option to select “safe delivery” so I responded that it could be left at the front door.  I was then out of the house for the rest of the morning, thinking it would be delivered regardless of me being there to sign for it.

When I get home after midday I see a card in the letter box saying the parcel can be collected from the local Post Shop after 4pm today.  Damn!  I had just been at that very shop half an hour before, how annoying to have to go back there tomorrow when I already said to leave it at the door.  (It was actually small enough to go in the letter box anyway).

I walked back into the garage and was about to close the door when I see the postman come around the corner and stop to deliver something to the house across the road.  So, with the collection card in hand, I crossed the street and asked if he had the item with him.  (Sometimes they are delivered by a separate van service).  He did, now I have it and I don’t have to make a special trip to the Post Shop tomorrow.  (No, I didn’t complain about the disregarded delivery instructions!)

Yes, PERFECT timing … the magic of SYNCHRONICITY strikes again… I must be still on the right path for my life and making the right choices!  🙂

Sometimes life feels like it has a revolving door.

People come and go. 

Sometimes they stay for a while. 

Sometimes they are gone without a chance to say goodbye.

Yet, always there are words unsaid, emotions unexpressed, and truth held back.

 

So rarely does anyone tell another person the whole truth because we all lie those so-called ‘little white lies’ using the excuse that we are ‘protecting’ the other from hurt or disappointment. 

Yet we are really just protecting ourselves from the fallout of the ‘truth bombs’ that we are too afraid to drop…

I hate you… BOOM!

I am leaving… BOOM!

I need you to go… BOOM!

I feel dead inside… BOOM!

I want you to stay… BOOM!

I won’t see you again… BOOM!

I feel you’re using me… BOOM!

I feel you let me down… BOOM!

I can’t tell you the truth… BOOM!

I am tired of your games… BOOM!

I think you are obsessed… BOOM!

I am afraid I will lose you… BOOM!

I don’t love you anymore… BOOM!

I don’t find you attractive… BOOM!

I only want a holiday fling… BOOM!
