Another amazing cover of Doctor Who cast reading copies of the magazines that I created… Silvester McCoy, Paul McGann and Sophie Aldred. Exclusive to DWCV interviews with Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred and Bonnie Langford thanks to our wonderful Manuel Bouw. In other areas, the cracks are beginning to show… how the hell did we keep going for over another year?

After the appearance of 8th Doctor Paul McGann in Melbourne we had to do a Double Issue to fit in all this amazing content, much of it EXCLUSIVE to Sonic Screwdriver. Also includes an Interveiw with Dominic Keating from Star Trek Enterprise.

Another variety-packed Issue. Also has the very first Separate Fan Comic of Manuel Bouw’s amazing work.
I say in the Editorial for this Issue: “…it takes forever to get these Sonic Screwdriver Magazines completed … But I love doing them, particularly when I hold the first printed colour copy in my hand … that makes me so, so very proud … where else could I have created so many magazine works-of-art without ever doing a relevant course in my entire life??? Just imagine what I could do if I had done training!!!” Well, now I realise that any Course I could have done would only have made something easier or quicker, but also put imaginary limits and restrictions on my creativity that would make my work more like “someone else’s work”… the best Training I could ever have is exactly what I had… this magazine and eventually I went on to create AVA ORION MEDIA where I have, so far, made it possible for 17 amazing books to be ‘out there’, ‘self-published’, and the writers have felt the Magic of ‘holding their published book in their hand’! It is Miraculous!

Even all these years later, the theme and some of the images in the 3rd Season of TORCHWOOD, Children Of Earth, disturb me. This is another issue full of a variety of content, including an article by Media Personality, Adam Richards. This was also known to us as the “Orchwoo” Edition because of a technical fault in the PDF between when I created it and the printers uploaded it, making the first T and last D disappear in some versions.

Second issue released with #172, and I don’t think I got to Proofread this one… 😉 Exclusive interview with PETER DAVISON and Anniversary reports. There are also some ambitious future plans mentioned in this issue that obviously never came to be… “The best-laid plans of mice and men…”. The title actually comes from one of my favorite ABBA songs.

Announcing Peter Davison’s upcoming visit to Melbourne, the plans for our DWCV 30th Anniversary. A fabulous 4th & 5th Doctor Original Fan Comic and look into the History of DWCV. I personally love the little conversation between Tom and Peter I created for the cover.

Last minute news… MATT SMITH is the real new Doctor. I was not impressed by the choice at the time, I had only seen him in one show where he did not impress me at all. All these years later, he is my favourite New Doctor, even slightly outdoing David Tennant. This issue also contains my detailed and intimate review of Russell T Davies fascinating book The Writer’s Tale.
