Since the return of Doctor Who last year and the return of Russell T Davies as Showrunner, we have had a variety of miss-the-mark episodes that promised more than they ever delivered. RTD has indulged his obsession with Preaching the Woke Agenda at the expense of great story and WHO tradition and at the offence of the faithful Fan audience.
The New Season with Ncuti Gatwa… In Shorts:
The Church on Ruby Road: Excessive, offensive (Goblins stealing and eating babies), a ridiculous song and dance number.
Space Babies: Silly with immature fart jokes.
The Devil’s Chord: A brilliant idea, great performances, but let down by badly cast Beatles and a hugely missed opportunity at the end to use the familiar Twist and Shout instead of the self-indulgent and forgettable Murry Gold composition. It is the chemistry between Ncuti and Millie, their superb acting, and the CGI that saves these episodes.
BOOM: Steven Moffatt is clearly aware that Everything we are presented as Truth by Religions, Politicians and the Media is a Huge Deliberate Lie… and that in all Wars, one Profit and Power Driven group funds BOTH SIDES! That is true of our current Wars as well!
37 Yards: Supposed to be “Horror” but only achieved tension and confusion.
Dot And Bubble: “Get your heads out of your phones and take a look at the real world around you, before you all end up dead!” is the point of this… but the target audience won’t see that…
Rogue: “Oh, my Bridgerton,” indeed! Yet it was still a pale imitation.
The Legend Of Ruby Sunday: Not in the least “Legendary”.
Empire Of Death: Sutekh reduced to a Digital Cartoon Dog and dragged through time and space… confusing, disappointing, and mostly self-indulgent crap!
There were tears… in EVERY Episode! Totally OTT!
We need less of RTD believing in his own self-importance and more great writing from others!
